Perhaps you have noticed grey, oh, like everywhere??! I’m not talking about those strands in your hair. I’m talking about grey walls, grey couches, grey this and grey that. Perhaps you think all the manufacturers got together and declared, “We need to sell more, let’s start a new trend!” But the truth is, we just get darn tired of things after about 10 years. Does anything in the two pictures below make your “must have” list?
Probably not. The Tuscan Brown Trend is so over and most of us are ready for something new.
But maybe you think that grey can be sort of cold and boring. And it can be if you buy a grey couch, paint your walls grey, hang some white curtains and consider it done. The reason for the grey trend right now is because after all the brown and “Builder’s Beige” that we have lived with for so long, we are ready for color. Yes, I said color.
Grey lets fresh, clean colors take center stage.
It’s beautiful with blue and makes orange pop.
And oh so pretty with pink.
The brown trend was for muted, earthy colors. Grey allows color to breathe some life into your room.
Will there come a time when the grey trend is just treading water?
Of course. We will get tired of it and move on to the next new thing. If you are wondering what that is, I’ll explore it in an upcoming post. Hint: It’s not brown. Look at the Tuscan Brown pictures again. Are we ready to go there anytime soon? I think not. But don’t despair if your home is filled with brown and beige. There are ways to update it without breaking the bank. Contact me if you are ready for a redo now, otherwise stay tuned for my “Do and Don’ts” to learn more.
